How can we freelancers help each other?
We freelancers should come together and help each other. Let’s talk openly about rates, consultancy brokers, clients, and support services such as accounting systems and business banks.
It’s no longer the brokers or the clients who hold all the information. Thanks to services like Brainville, Anna Leijon’s consultancy broker list, her newly published book “Bli egen”, communities like Frilansare Sverige, and organisations for solo entrepreneurs such as Kvadrat, we’re better organised, entry barriers are lower, and we have more power than ever before. So what should we do with it?
🧾 Help each other without expecting anything in return. Share tips about assignments and hire one another
💵 Push rates upward by benchmarking against Brainville’s rate reports, talking openly about hourly rates, and negotiating actively
📢 Lower the cost of support services — for example, by switching accounting systems or business banks when they raise their prices
🤝 Lobby for better laws and regulations for small business owners — by debating openly and getting the attention of politicians, the education system, the media, and others who have overlooked us for far too long
🔦 Shine a spotlight on this movement so that more people get the opportunity to break free, become more independent, happier, and receive a fairer share of the value they create
The freedom revolution is here, and it’s here to stay. Let’s make the most of it!
Anna Leijon has been writing about freelancing and solo entrepreneurship since 2018 on her website annaleijon.se. She’s often referred to as “the freelance queen” and recently released her first book, “Bli egen.”
