Observations on Developer Demand
Our top-tier roles consist of positions like system developers, system architects, system integrators, embedded developers, and more. This group had a plethora of assignments throughout 2023.
Yet, this group has experienced a decline in assignments for a while now. For example, the number of assignments for system developers dropped by almost 10% from the first half of 2023 to the second.
Sellers’ average offered hourly rates remained fairly stable, while buyers’ initial hourly rate decreased by 2%.
The preferred stack level for developers is mentioned in 35% of all assignments. Fullstack and backend developers show a slight positive trend.
The most sought-after programming languages in 2023 were Java, Python, JavaScript, and C#. Not much of a surprise there. The demand for trendier languages like Kotlin, Go/Golang, and TypeScript remained quite stable.
